    Overview

The basic idea is that I was watching this "Jerry's Map" documentary. He starts a session on it by going through a deck of cards that he modified to include a task to do on his map. I then thought that this would apply nicely to Minecraft, and then another step brought it to productivity in general.

    The process

The thought is that I will sit down, shuffle the deck, and pick a card. I then must do whatever the picked card tells me to do, and then I put the card back into the deck.

    Making The Deck

I started with a blank-face blue backed Bicycle deck. These are available at many magic supply stores, or vicariously through Amazon.com which is where I got my decks. I also ordered some multicolored Ultra Fine Point Sharpie markers. You probably will want at least Black and Red. I ordered a pack of many different colors.

The Bicycle deck has lamination on both sides, and this seems to help gum up the markers a little bit if you try to draw in one area too much, so draw quickly and with lines and crosshatching, not with coloring/filling in.

My thought is that since I'll probably have this deck on me all the time, I'll make it a standard deck, as well as adding my stuff onto it. I started by drawing Ace through King (A,2,3,...10,J,Q,K) in both top left corners of the cards, then drew a crude club or spade beneath it. This leaves the deck as a standard poker deck, and leaves the middle area open for whatever.

    Deck card descriptions

I decided to take a cue from my friend Chris' "Pegleg Pete" card deck, and instead of Jokers, doing other things. His has Serpents. Mine has: A clock, A fish, a Pineapple, and a house. No idea what these signify with respect to productivity, but I figured what the heck.

The cards created are as follows:

    Jokers

    • P - Pineapple 🍍🍍🍍
    • H - House ⌂ ⌂ ⌂
    • C - Clock 🕐 🕐 🕐
    • F - Fish 🐟 🐟 🐟

    Extras for Minecraft

Many of the cards will have double-usage as a tool to help guide me do something in Minecraft. This is a direct reflection of "Jerry's Map". For the following list, the "Ace" card is grouped with the face cards. These are the following Minecraft cards:
