Optigator: Lumivox II in a light up gator

The Optigator. Ain't he cute?

Volume knob on the left side... not perfect, but good enough.

1/8" output jack on the right side. a 1/4" jack would require too much internal clearance. You can also see the holes I had to make for the eye-light clearance.

Push the switch on his tail, and the mouth opens, turning it on, lighting up the eyes. They look really cool and deep red (12v lights on a 9v battery) which you can't really see here.

The light bulb has been replaced with the photocell. I put the protective clear plastic over it, even though it's not really needed.

The 555 on a perfboard. It's just jammed into there... there are no metal bits for it to short out onto.

All of the pretty green wires. I just snapped off the plastic in the battery holder... no reason to be pretty with it; no one ever sees this.

The battery is wrapped in tape to make sure it doesn't short

the hole in the bottom which I've since found the filler plastic for. Radio Shack sells a speaker which fits perfectly in that piece.

$5 color changing light thing. "Metamorph". It works well with the Optigator.
