Virtua Fighter 3 team battle
So for the past two days, i've been trying to get my Virtua Fighter 3
Team Battle boardset running. Last night, i got everything hooked up
to a Macintosh 16" monitor, assuming it would sync that low. It
didnt. So then I tried a 14" monitor. It almost synced. It showed
stuff on the screen, but it was all scrambled. I wanted to hook it up
to a VGA monitor instead, but i didn't have the parts, so i shelved it
for the night.
This afternoon i ran out to Radio Shack to snag a 15 pin connector. The
second one i went to actually had the part. heh. I finally got it all
soldered up, hooked it up to the monitor.
As you can see, my monitor couldn't sync up to the horizontal sync properly.
:( This is the title screen.
And Aoi, one of the characters that are new for VF3.
Here you can see the wiring nightmare. The big silver box on the bottom is
the board chassis. On its right side you can see where all of the power and
control wires connect to it.
Just above that is a normal PC power supply. This one is from an old 486.
On top of it you can see the video cable going up to the VGA monitor.
Just behind that, is a small black box. that's the 3.3volt supply that the
boardset requires. (The PowerPC chip needs 3.3v power.)
To its left is the terminal strip that i used to connect the power to the
JAMMA harness.
Clockwise from the 3.3v supply is the small audio amplifyer board, then
the JAMMA harness. In the foreground is the control panel i threw back
together to test this whole thing out.
